Our West Turkey Tour is one of our most exhilarating tours and is full of surprises!
We visit the ancient Greek city of Ephesus, the birth place of St Nicholas and the Turkish peninsula where the Battle of Gallipoli took place.
We ride twisty roads through forests and mountains with stunning lake views and beautiful scenery. We explore a narrow canyon on foot (too narrow for the bikes!), have tea breaks at the local waterfalls and enjoy the Turkish sunshine and hospitality.
Our hotel accommodation on this tour are either Boutique hotels or 3-4 star independent good quality hotels all of which are perfect for a good night’s rest after a great day of riding.
After arriving at Antalya airport, you will be picked up and taken to your hotel. Once at the hotel, you get to meet the other bikers and our bike tour leader, have a tour briefing where you’ll find out everything you need to know about riding in Turkey and this will be followed by a Welcome Dinner in the evening.
Our hotel is all inclusive so you can eat, drink and relax by the pool or swim in the sea.
A free day in Antalya to explore and have a look round and visit the Kaleici area of Antalya.
We pick up the motorbikes, fill in all the necessary paperwork and ride the bikes back to the hotel ready to start the tour the next day.
Antalya to Fethiye (approx 333 kms)
Tour starts!! After breakfast, we ride from Antalya towards the beautiful Toros mountains with a tea break along the way. We ride amazing twisty coastal roads beside the Mediterranean Sea and visit the ancient town of Myra the birth place of St Nicholas (Father Christmas!). After Myra, we ride to the picturesque old fishing village of Kas for lunch and then ride along the coastal roads to my beautiful home town of Fethiye!
After arriving at our hotel and taking a little walk by the sea, we have dinner at the local fish market which has amazing fresh fish and a huge selection of delicious meze dishes to sample.
Fethiye to Bodrum (approx 230 kms)
From Fethiye we ride towards Akyaka. We stop for lunch and a little swim/rest break. We then ride by coastal roads to the lively city of Bodrum. It has lots of bars and restaurants so after checking into our hotel, we will walk to the town centre to have a wander and explore!
Bodrum to Alacati (approx 310 kms)
From Bodrum, we ride to a lake for a tea stop then ride to Ephesus, an ancient 10th Century Greek city and a UNESCO Heritage site as well as visiting the Church of the Virgin Mary, one of the first Christian churches in Turkey.
We then ride through seaside towns and coastal roads to arrive at the famous wind surfing village of Alacati for our overnight stay in a beautiful traditional friendly Turkish hotel.
Alacati to Cunda (approx 300 kms)
From Alacati ride on lovely twisty coastal roads to Izmir, Turkey’s third largest city. The city of Izmir has around 4,000 years of recorded history to its name and is, therefore, one of the oldest settlements in the Mediterranean.
We have a lunch stop just outside Izmir and then ride to the town of Bergama, another important historical area in Turkey.
We then ride through a big pine forest to arrive at Cunda Island, famous for its seafood restaurants, beautiful colours and quirky independent boutique hotels and shops. We stay in a beautiful hotel overnight surround by the Aegean sea.
Cunda Island to Canakkale (approx 250kms)
From Cunda Island, we ride by the mountains and olive fields, along the coast to the town of Troy, famous for the Troy horse. We will of course visit the Troy horse and even climb in it! We will also see the old city and ruins. We then ride to our hotel in Canakkale which has fantastic seaside views. We will have free evening and dinner at the seaside restaurant.
Gallipoli
After breakfast we will cross the Canakkale canal by ferry to visit the famous and most poignant WW1 battlefield of Gallipoli. We visit the War Museum, Anittepe and the Conk Bayiri memorial, one of biggest and important war memorials in Turkey. We also visit ANZAC cove on the Gallipoli peninsula where the ANZAC soldiers arrived by boats in 1915 and pay our respects. We then return on the ferry to our hotel in Canakkale by the sea. We have a free evening to explore.
Canakkale to Bursa (approx 276 kms)
We depart from Canakkale and ride to a small Turkish town situated on a small peninsula on a lake which was founded by the ancient Greeks. After a little tea stop by the lake, we ride to the city of Bursa, famous for being the first Capital City of Turkey as well as famous for its silk market and beautiful silk products. We see the famous Grand Mosque of Bursa, built in the 13th Century and the Grand Bazaar beside it.
After exploring Bursa, we can relax at our hotel and enjoy the spa facilities, a hot swimming pool and sauna.
Bursa to Afyon (approx 356kms)
We depart from Bursa in the morning and ride to the Uludag mountains and stop off to have traditional Turkish tea in Keles with the local villagers! We ride through twisty mountain roads and have a little photo stop by Kayabogazi Lake. We visit the Zeus ruins and after lunch we have a long ride through countryside roads to our hotel in Afyon.
Afyon to Antalya (approx 346 kms)
In the morning we depart Afyon and ride to Egridir Lake with a tea stop along the way. We ride by the lake on twisty roads with stunning mountain views.
We have our lunch by the lake and afterwards we ride roads beside the lake and mountains to our last stop in Antalya.
Our hotel will be located right in the centre of Istanbul and after breakfast we do a tour of the Bosphorus Strait, the sea that divides Europe and Asia, on a traditional Turkish ferry and stop off by the Black Sea coast for lunch in an old fishing village. After returning by ferry we have a free evening to explore Istanbul at night.
After breakfast we will be walking round Istanbul and visiting the top tourist attractions such as the Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, the Egyptian Bazaar, the Hagia Sophia and more. Wear comfortable walking shoes!
We then go to the Beyoglu district for dinner.
